Watt / kilowatt / megawatt / gigawatt

These are all units of power (a rate), scaling by factors of 1,000: a kilowatt (kW) is 1,000 watts, a megawatt (MW) is 1 million watts (1,000 kilowatts), and a gigawatt (GW) is 1 billion watts (1,000 megawatts). A single large power plant is typically measured in hundreds or thousands of megawatts.
