Transmission owner / generation owner

A transmission owner is the entity that owns and maintains transmission facilities, the high-voltage lines and equipment that move electricity in bulk. A generator owner is the entity that owns and maintains generating facilities (or certain non-bulk-system inverter-based resources above a specified size). These are formally defined NERC roles distinct from an ISO/RTO or balancing authority, which operate and coordinate the system rather than owning the physical assets themselves.
