Peak load / load forecasting

Peak load is the maximum electricity demand recorded during a specified period of time, whether an hour, a day, or a year. Load forecasting is the practice of predicting future demand, at various time horizons from the next few minutes to years ahead, so that grid operators can plan generation, maintenance, and capacity investments accordingly.
