Insider threat

An insider threat is the risk that someone with authorized access to an organization, an employee, former employee, or contractor, uses that access to cause harm, whether intentionally or through negligence. In OT environments, insider access is often broader and harder to monitor than in IT, since engineers and contractors frequently need direct physical or logical access to control systems to do their jobs.
