Electrification

Electrification is the process of converting an energy-consuming device, system, or sector that currently runs on a non-electric energy source (like natural gas heating or gasoline-powered vehicles) to run on electricity instead. It's generally pursued as a means to another goal, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions or lowering energy costs, rather than as an end in itself.
