Control area (superseded term)

Control area was the earlier term for what NERC now formally defines as a balancing authority. It no longer appears in NERC's current glossary of terms, having been superseded by "balancing authority" in NERC's terminology, though "control area" still shows up in older documents and in casual industry usage.
