Circuit breaker

A circuit breaker is a switching device that automatically interrupts current flow when it detects a fault or an overload condition, protecting equipment and preventing a localized problem from spreading. In grid protection systems, circuit breakers are the devices that physically execute a "trip" command issued by a protective relay.
